Collaboration with Ambrose
We are excited to collaborate with proud desert/ Eastern Arrernte and Western Bundjalung man, Ambrose Scott Killian, to bring his stunning artwork to life in our latest Forever Funky collection.
Ambrose was born on Larrakia country (Darwin) and now lives in Meanjin (Brisbane) on Quandamooka country. His grandmother was part of the Stolen Generation born on Eastern Arrernte Country and taken from her family to be raised north of Darwin on Melville Island. His grandfather was of Bundjalung and African-American decent and grew up in Redfern, Sydney.
From a young age, Ambrose immersed himself in art to connect with his ancestors and Country. When he won a student art award in 2010 which saw his artwork tour Queensland galleries, it opened his passion to paint, learn from his elders and share his knowledge of culture.

His stunning print Ahelhe and Bundjalung Blues depict the red earth of Eastern Arrernte Country and the brilliant waters of Quandamooka Country. The intertwining elements of the artwork represent community, family and the connection to land and our oceans.
The collaboration also brings together the goals that we share with Ambrose to encourage young people to live healthy, active lives. Number 1 Funkita athlete, Canadian triple Olympic Gold Medallist Summer McIntosh, immediately fell in love with the Bundjalong Blues print and wears it at her training base in Florida, USA.

Ambrose is a passionate endurance athlete, competing in triathlon, marathons and Ironman events. You can see more of Ambrose's work here.
